Media release: Top US election analyst to visit New Zealand

5 August, 2016

Wellington (5 August 2016): Public policy think tank The New Zealand Initiative will be hosting Henry Olsen, America’s top election analyst, in Auckland on 15 – 16 August.

Described as “the smartest commentator on American politics and elections out there” (Robert P. George), Olsen has predicted the results of all US elections of the past decade with remarkable accuracy.

During his time in New Zealand, Olsen will be speaking to members of The New Zealand Initiative. He will share his insights into America’s future with either Clinton or Trump at the helm, and offer an explanation of what New Zealand can expect from the next US President.

What we do already know is this is not like any other Presidential election we’ve seen before.

About the speaker Henry Olsen, a Senior Fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center, studies and provides commentary on American politics. From 2006 to 2013 he served as Vice President and Director, National Research Initiative, at the American Enterprise Institute. He previously worked as Vice President of Programs at the Manhattan Institute and President of the Commonwealth Foundation.

Mr. Olsen’s work has been featured in many prominent publications, including The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, National Review, and The Weekly Standard. His pre-election predictions of the 2008, 2010, and 2012 elections have been particularly praised for their remarkable accuracy. He holds a B.A. from Claremont McKenna College and a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School.
