2015: Failed attempt to legalise medical cannabis

Policy Framework:

• Possession of less than 8oz (226g) is a misdemeanour punishable by 45 days in prison and a fine of $US250;
• Sale or trafficking of the drug is a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a fine of around $US10,000;
• Cultivation of fewer than five plants is a misdemeanour punishable by a year in prison and a fine of $US500;
• Cultivation of any more than five plants is a felony punishable by up to 10 years.
