In this week’s episode of the New Zealand Initiative podcast, chief editor Nathan Smith sits down with Bella d’Abrera to discuss the ideas behind the international progressive movement.

Dr d'Abrera is the Director of the Foundations of Western Civilisation Programme at the Institute of Public Affairs in Melbourne. She has a BA in History and Spanish from Monash University, an MA in Spanish from the University of St Andrews and a PhD in History from the University of Cambridge.

She says while it’s true the history of Western Civilisation is a long story of throwing out the bad ideas and strengthening the good ideas, lately the progressive movement and the ideas of philosophical deconstruction may be throwing out too many of those good ideas.
